Dr. Loren Edward McCoy, M.D., FACP was raised in Sheffield, AL and attended Sheffield High  School. After graduation, he attended Wabash College, in Crawfordsville, IN, graduating with  honors. He was accepted to UAB Medical School, and after graduation in 1994, he completed a three year internal medicine residency at The University of Alabama Hospitals, in  Birmingham, AL.

In 1997 he came back to The Shoals and joined Avalon Medical Center (now Avalon Medical  Group), where he has practiced general internal medicine ever since.

He is on staff at North Alabama Medical Center, Helen Keller Hospital, and NAMC Shoals  Hospital.

He specializes in adult medicine, accepting patients 18 years and older. Dr. McCoy is an expert  in preventative medicine, hypertension, diabetes, lipid management, osteoarthritis and  musculoskeletal complaints, joint injections, respiratory and skin infections, acute and chronic  pain, and weight loss medicine.
